If you pack a lunch everyday for your kids (or they pack it themselves) then you know that a good lunchbox can make all of the difference of having a great lunch.  Not only does it keep foods separated, but it prevents you from using lots of plastic baggies, or lots of little tupperware to send different food items in.  It can be tough to send a balanced meal to school if all you have is a brown paper bag!

We have packed lots and lots of healthy lunches and these 5 lunchboxes are hands down our favorite.  Each one has different features that we like.   Read on to get the full run down of each lunchbox, what we like (and don’t like) and also tips for packing school lunch and healthy lunch ideas!

Easy Lunchboxes

Pros

  • Inexpensive.  You can find a 4 pack of these on Amazon for around $10.  If it happens to get lost or ruined somehow, then it won’t break the bank to replace it.
  • The lids are easy to open for kids.   When they are at school and their eating time is limited, they won’t have to find someone to help them open it or waste precious time trying to pry it off themselves.  Just pops right off.
  • They nest well and so don’t take up a lot of space in your cupboard when storing them.
  • You can put them in the microwave, dishwasher and freezer

Cons

  • They aren’t as durable as some other types of lunchbox material
  • There are only 3 sections – if you want more types of foods you have to put them in the same compartment
  • These are not leak proof.  You should only use with foods that won’t leak.

Other huge advantages of the Yumbox/ Planetbox are the lids are on a hinge, therefore lids never get lost!
