It doesn’t need to be St. Patrick’s Day to enjoy these homemade spinach noodles! They were easier than you might think, and turned out amazing! I was shocked with how much spinach I added, that they actually didn’t have much of a spinach taste. Maybe that’s a bad thing in your house, but it was a good thing in mine!
Spinach is an important food to incorporate into your families diet!
- Spinach helps protect the lining of the digestive tract and contains anti-inflammatory properties.
- Spinach is rich in vitamin K (1110% of the daily value for 1 cup)
- Spinach is high in vitamin A (377% daily value for 1 cup)
- Popeye ate it to be strong!
If you’ve never tried homemade noodles before, this weekend would be a great time to try it, and it’s actually more simple than you would think! But, for Spinach noodles, we actually ground up some fresh spinach with our flour first, and then incorporated it into our regular recipe for fresh pasta: I used 1 cup of flour and 1 cup of fresh spinach in my mini- food processor.
Then, ground it up until it became a powder.
Then, rolled it out to cut shapes and noodles:
The final recipe looked like this:

- 1 cup fresh spinach
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 more cup flour
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup water
- Pulse spinach, 1 cup flour and salt into a food processor until powder is formed. Mix the rest of the ingredients together until a dough is formed. Roll out onto counter with flour and a rolling pin as thin as possible. Boil in broth or water for 12-15 minutes.
Eat on St. Patricks Day!
